|The Cenakel Church in Heilig Landstichting was built between 1913 and 1915 as a parish and pilgrimage church. The church is unique in the Dutch church architecture.
Through the design and detailing that are based on early Christian architecture and Arabic styles,
the church and the other buildings of the National Monument Holy Land Foundation seen as a unique example of orientalism in the Netherlands.
The construction of the church was the beginning of a great place of pilgrimage where the life of Jesus would be represented,
nowadays the area of the Cenakel Church, the cemetery and Museum Park Orientalis.
Although the church bears the name cenacle (dining room, namely the Last Supper), the church is dedicated to Saint Anthony for financial reasons.
The church is strikingly white plastered and has two Byzantine towers.
The walls on the inside, on the other hand, are colorfully painted with images of particular events of the actions of the apostles, Stephen and Paul, including the conversion of Saul to Christian.
The interior has many byzantine features, such as the mosaic in the apse. A number of walls are graced with mosaics, such as the Sleep of the Mother of God.
In the semicircular apse a number of palms and angels are depicted by means of a predominantly golden mosaic.
There is one in front of the altar menorah-shaped candlestick, above the altar hangs a wooden canopy and behind the altar is a small organ.
